Home-Start Arun, Worthing and Adur have been the House Charity for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars (Chichester) for the past year and the final total of money raised is in… a target busting £32,020. The family support charity had hoped that the staff at the luxury car brand would raise £25,000 through the course of the year but the staff smashed that target!
Home-Start is a charity supporting 190 families each year, parents and the whole family unit are supported to ensure the best start in life for children, at home with their parents. The charity, which celebrates 20 years this year, was nominated by Phil Gregory who works in the Leather department of Rolls-Royce and also volunteers his design skills for Home-Start in his own time. He persuaded colleagues to vote for Home-Start and they were thrilled to partner with the Goodwood based firm.
Pete Crowe, Home-Start Chair said,
"When the news was announced we were so pleased but also daunted by the size of the company when we are a local small charity. But, small is mighty it seems as the challenge to the staff at Rolls-Royce was quickly grasped and their fundraising events exceeded all expectations."
The different staff teams at Rolls-Royce held a number of events and sponsored activities including; classic cars and breakfast morning, cake bakes, sponsored Firewalk, crew in Arundel Dragon Boat Race, grand Christmas raffle, collecting tins in the canteen and many other things. All the funds raised will support local families with children under 5 going through challenging times. Support is needed now as there is a waiting list for support and these funds will support nearly 30 families get help as they need it.
Catherine Hobson, Development Manager at Home-Start said,
"The staff have all been genuinely interested in helping the charity with their fundraising efforts and learning more about what we do. We attended Family Day on site in September and we met so many of the Rolls-Royce families of all generations it was a pleasure to work with them. This has been an incredible partnership. Our volunteers have enjoyed the different opportunities it has presented too. I’d like to thank all the staff and management for their support during our House Charity year; £32k raised is amazing!"
Home-Start will be working with new corporate partners throughout 2020, if you’d like to partner with the charity please contact Catherine at the email below.
